2. If you are happy you should show it. Clap your hands, hop around, dance, yell…just let it out and exclaim your happiness no matter who’s around.

3. If someone get’s mad at you don’t take it personally…just roll on your back for a few minutes and then try again.

4.  You can never be too close during hugs. Face to face, nose to nose, the closer the better.

5.  Exercise is fun! Treadmill, walks, running, chasing, hopping, moving, shaking….it’s all fun!

6. If you don’t like something bark at it and move on with life.

7. When you are tired – sleep.

8.  Mornings are fresh and exciting. Celebrate them with joy! Scream if you have too!

9.  When someone yells it may just be loud talking but when someone’s body looks angry then they are serious.

10.  Perfect haircuts aren’t all they are cracked up to be…I’m unique and that makes me cool.

If anyone else has a schnauzer who does this or did it and has stopped this let me know because I’m starting to feel like he’s never going to stop.

Literally as soon as we open the garage door he starts scream. He pulls to the point of my arm hurting and the only thing that will get him to not pull forward is using a stick to block him. He screams at everything – another dog, a person, a leaf…anything and he’s screaming.

He is so good in all other areas of his behavior but we can not stop him from doing this. Any suggestions???

This video is pretty much what he thinks of his food. He’s getting kicked out of the kitchen here but he still is happy. In fact he’s so happy he normally hops out of the kitchen.

Note: Excuse our howling with the chicken…It makes us feel more involved!

The video below of him jumping on the couch was a one time thing. It took him until last Saturday to actually start his jumping by himself.

So, we had to go to a conference in another city for today and we decided that instead of leaving him with anyone we would take him alone and see how it goes. We are in a nice hotel and a nice room (that’s the way we roll) and we were a little concerned about getting kicked out because he barks at every leaf that goes by at home.

We are also pretty much connected to the airport so there is a limited amount of walking areas and their hotel designated bathroom ‘area’ is a little pen with rocks that hurt their feet to walk on and where people flick their cigarettes from the above level!

Anywase, I pictured walking into the hotel and him screaming at the top of his lungs (even his quiet scream is frickin loud) and everyone looking at us and complaining. But surprisingly he hasn’t screamed at people in the hotel. Even when room service came he just kind of sat on the bed and ignored it. He did bark once at a guy who surprised him but other than that he’s been really good. He’s not even barking at housekeeping banging around outside of the room which blows my mind.

Although, my miniature pinscher is barking at noises outside of the room and he’s lived in an apartment before so he should know better.

Anyhow so far it has been really good and this is day number two. We have a few more days here so we’ll see how bored he gets by the end of it.

He’s such a good boy!

Now we had our breeder show us how to do the haircut so we could do it on our own. She showed us how to shave him and cut his hair. How to do his underbelly and his eyebrows. He was extremely good for being 4 months old. He just kind of sat there and looked around waiting to get it done.

And then she started putting some white stuff in his ears and told me that this would be in comparison to us tweezing our eyebrows. She told me it was the chalk that you would use if you were a gymnast and needed to get a good grip on something.

Then I heard him scream. She was pulling out his ear hair! He screamed every single time she did it and she did it, for what felt like, 5 minutes. My poor boy. Apparently it’s done to keep them clean and to keep that hair out of the way while grooming but my vet said it’s not that necessary. I don’t think I’m going to do it unless I really have to. It was torture to watch and I’m sure torture for him.

Now I have to say that when we pluck our eyebrows we normally do one at a time, not a bunch of hair at one time. She did say that some of her dogs don’t mind it while some dogs hate it. I love my breeder but I have a hard time picturing a dog who likes that.

The upside of his visit is that he got to play with all the dogs there. She lives on an 82 acre piece of land and those dogs have the best life in the world. He played and jumped and cowered and just had a great time in general with a bunch of dogs that really wanted to play with him.

Mind you if you watch this turn your volume down because I scream quite loud in excitement.

Other than that he had his first long car trip the other day. It was 6 hours total and he only puked twice and ran into the highway once. So it was pretty…stinky and upsetting. But we all got through it – after Evy threw up once as well – and lived to talk about it. I think it’s my driving that makes him puke because it only happened when it was me driving. We had all the windows in the car open as well so it made it a little easier on him.

They are joyful and happy about everything that happens throughout the day. They are always excited and ready to put one foot forward into this life. They make the most out of every minute and we could all learn from their example. I know I’m trying to everyday of my life.

This video is of him playing in the backyard. He loves outside so much. He could stay there forever if you let him.

Unfortunately for us we have the neighbor from hell who we think tried to poison our other dogs last year- actually we know, we just can’t prove it was her.She’s a miserable neighbor who comes out with her miserable face and complains about everything and anything. She’s the witch of the block to the kids and the bitch of the block to the adults.

Anyone who makes noise besides her is a nusisance and anyone who enjoys their life is worth spreading her misery to.

As you can tell I don’t like her and to make it worse she’s right next to me. Her kitchen window is set to peer into my living room. Her back yard is full of trees that we’ve seen her pop up from after a long private conversation that we have had. Her bedroom window peers into our backyard and she goes to bed at 7:30 every night.

Anywase what all that means is that outside can be stressful for us wondering if she’s thrown something in our yard or is sitting there waiting to complain or hurt them. And whether she’s going to come out and bitch and complain and try to make our day suck as much as hers does.

If you are that type of person, like my neighbor, I suggest you to take a hint from the animal kingdom and start enjoying your life. And I’ll take my cue from him to not worry about you anymore.
